Group volunteers assist in the running of our groups, helping out with activities such as arts and crafts, music and social exercises etc.
If you want to come along, get to know some new people and take part in some fun activities, this may be the role for you.
To apply, fill in our Volunteer Application Form.
Role Description
The Group Volunteer is an assistant position. You will arrive 30mins approx before the start of groups to help set up, and stay for around 30mins afterwards to help with tidying away and ensuring all attendees are safely picked up by their carers or other transport.
During groups, you will chat with members, help them with activities, escorting attendees around venues if necessary, and help the Dementia Group Leader as required.
⭕️ Assist the Dementia Group Leader in practical tasks such as:
Setting up the space
Laying out materials
Checking registers
⭕️ Be a vital support to our Lead Volunteers. Lead Volunteers have extra responsibilities, such as leading activities, helping set up, and feeding back to the Charity regarding groups. Lead Volunteer positions are only available to people who are already part of our group volunteer pool and are vastly experienced volunteers.
⭕️ Prepare refreshments, such as water, tea and coffee
⭕️ Prepare snacks, such as biscuits and fruit, and distribute to attendees
⭕️ Chat with attendees and get to know them
⭕️ Help attendees with their activities or crafts
⭕️ Escort attendees around the building, such as to and from the toilet or to prevent wandering off
We ask that all new volunteers make an initial commitment of one group per week for a year. Of course, volunteers cannot always make it every week - just let us know so we can plan.
