Dementia Cafes are a great opportunity for carers of people living with Dementia to socialise and share their experiences.
Many of the carers who attend the cafes are struggling and need a break but still have to bring the person they care for with them.
Whilst the carers are able to get massages, share their concerns and gain advice from our Carer Support Leader and admiral nurses, our volunteers are a helping hand on the opposite side of the room for the people living with dementia.
As a volunteer you will chat, do activities and be a general support to people living with dementia, many of which will need 1:1 support. This support will include:
Chatting to members and generating conversation about old and new experiences
Getting members tea, coffee and snacks
Keeping their brains active with quizzes and puzzles
Getting creativity flowing with colouring and painting
The dementia cafes are only once a month so if you have less time available to volunteer every week, this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.
If you would like like to apply to volunteer with us, please complete our Expression of Interest form and someone will be in touch as soon as possible.
