Volunteer with Together Dementia Support

A few hours a week changing lives

Volunteering is a rewarding and fulfilling way to make a difference in your local community.

Without volunteers, we wouldn't be able to deliver the vital support desperately needed across Manchester and Trafford to enable people to live positively with Dementia.

We are very sorry, but at the present time we are unable to accept applications from people younger than 18 unless you are applying as part of a Work Experience Placement scheme.

We have a variety of roles available across our services that suit all levels of skills & experience

Available Roles

Group Volunteer

Group volunteers assist in the running of our groups, chatting with members, helping out with activities such as arts & crafts, music and social exercises. There is a different theme every week - and even a few trips out!

If you thrive in a group setting, then this could be for you.

Together at Home Volunteer

TAH is our at-home 1:1 service for people who are unable to attend our groups. Volunteers will be matched with a person living with dementia so they can visit them in their homes to do fun, social and creative activities. This is a personalised 1:1 volunteering experience, with all training provided.

Dementia Café Volunteer

Dementia Cafés are an opportunity for carers of people living with dementia to socialise and share experiences.

Carers are able to share their concerns and get advice from visiting Dementia Support Advisors and Admiral Nurses over a cup of tea, while volunteers help their cared-for person with dementia with fun, creative activities.

Fundraising Volunteer

Do you have a fundraising idea? Want to hold a race night at your local pub or do a bucket collection at your regular supermarket?

Become part of our Fundraising Team and help raise fund for our various vital services.

Admin Volunteers

This is an office or home-based role, depending on your skills, experience, preference and availability. You don't need any prior experience of working with people living with dementia, but you will need to confident using a computer - particularly Microsoft Office packages. We always need a helping hand with administration, communications, social media and all manner of back-office duties!

Music Champion

Our Music Champions help us bring the joy of music to people living with dementia by helping to run our weekly Music Cafés. Music Champions don't need any prior musical experiences - between us and our friends at Manchester Camerata, you'll receive all the training you need! So whether you're tone deaf, or a whizz with scales and arpeggios, this could be the role for you!

Volunteer Musicians

Music is a part of all of our groups - it's a great way to reminisce, to bring people together, and to get our members singing and dancing. We're looking for musical volunteers who like to perform, to come along to our groups every now and then and play us some live music - anything from Elvis to Christmas Carols.

Minibus Escort Volunteer

Volunteer Minibus Escorts will accompany our minibus drivers onboard our two lovely Together Dementia Support minibuses, helping to pick-up and drop-off members before and after groups. Drivers and Escorts are a key part of our members’ group experience – you’ll be their first and last contact with Together Dementia Support each week, so we rely on you to bring them smiles, positivity and the warmest welcome. Help us make our groups the highlight of their week!

Holiday Placement Volunteers

Our new School Holiday Placements are aimed specifically at students – whilst term time can often be too busy and stressful to volunteer regularly, school holidays are the perfect opportunity to get involved with Together Dementia Support through our structured short-term volunteering placements.
