Dementia Study Day, Manchester University

On 10th March 2025, three amazing members from Together Dementia Support — John, Ana, and Ollie, representing the group "Fabulous Forgetful Friends" — shared their experiences of living with dementia with 1st-year nursing students at the University of Manchester. There were tears, laughter, and lots of learning. The students were fully engaged and gave fantastic feedback. By the end of the day, our members felt proud to share their stories, their confidence was boosted, they gained a sense of pride, and they felt truly valuable to society.

 

Ollie, being a former nurse, had so much to share, while Ana kept the whole room laughing with her jokes. John made the session even more engaging by walking around the stage, making eye contact with all the students. The carers were overjoyed watching the videos of their loved ones delivering their speech. It was a truly memorable and educational experience for everyone involved. Happy days! 💙💙
