Amazing News!
We are so proud to have been selected to receive a grant from Global Music! Grant winners are scattered across the UK and we are the only charity within Greater Manchester to be awarded a grant.
The money will fund a Carer Support Co-ordinator for two years, enabling us to give more support, information and advice to the ever-growing number of families who need our support.
Would you believe that this grant came about because one of our star minibus drivers, Steve Payne (pictured right), encouraged his daughter, Lucy, (who works for Global Music)to nominate us for a grant. We then had a two-stage application process and were finally told we’d been successful a few weeks ago.
Global Music will publicise the projects they are funding throughout the next two years as this will encourage the radio listeners to donate to the Make Some Noise fund.
We are so grateful to all the people in the TDS family who help us to get the vital funding that we so desperately need. Because central and local government funding has shrunk, we rely ever more on donations, grants and corporate support.
Miranda, one of our former carers, helped us with our grant application.
It will make you smile if you click on the short video clip above. Turn up the sound! This is Miranda and her (late) Mum, Anna. Anna’s mood could change so much when she was able to listen to Classic FM. In particular, the music of Strauss, a fellow Austrian! Miranda is thrilled that we are getting this grant to employ another Carer Support Co-ordinator as she knows the impact of TDS’ person-centred, responsive carer support that helped her cope with caring. ❤️
