I Remember Diana - One of the Best Ever
By Miranda Kaunang
I remember how great it was to meet you. You were so colourful and you wore trainers.
I remember you said Malcolm was once lost and found in Llandudno. I wondered if the seagulls tried to steal your chips.
I remember your amusement when you told me how old you were. It shocked me.
I remember signing away my job and you told me it was going to be alright. We drummed with our hands.
I remember you loved oysters. You were the pearl.
I remember you singing in the choir and hugging friends in the break.
I remember you said that if you were a plant you'd like to be wild garlic.
I remember you talked about your loved ones with smiling eyes. Always.
I remember that you were a whizz on the what's app. Always something positive to say even on the last day.
I remember you loved my marmalde so I put some more aside for you.
I remember you thought the mackerel from Moelfre was magic. You cooked it with oats and rhubarb.
I remember you and Mary drinking white wine and having a laugh. Every week.
I remember you preferred walking to getting a lift.
I remember how kind and generous you were. You gave your time freely.
I remember your passion for the theatre and music and singing and writing and being.
I remember that I forgot to tell you how much your friendship and gentle advice meant to me.
Good Bye dear Diana OBE.
One of the Best Ever.
